Making our Community...Together
Could you lead activity for us?
Do you want a certain activity to be held at Stanton Village Hall - perhaps a table-top sale or for bingo to resume? Then help us achieve this. You'll have the support of our Trustees but it's essential that these are run responsibly in line with our policies, legislation and our insurers guidance.
Our trustees and volunteers work day in and day out to keep the hall running.
Therefore, it can be frustrating to be criticised for 'not doing anything for the community'. We provide a location for small businesses to hold their sessions, for kids and adults to train and learn, and for families to celebrate special occasions - all whilst being self-funded! Our website, bookings management, gardens, DIY, book-keeping, and all the legal aspects of running a charity are looked after by unpaid local people.
We receive suggestions often that the Hall 'should' resume bingo after COVID and organise our own table top sales and fetes. But the reality is that, with the same 2-3 volunteers busy keeping the hall safe and operational, we cannot do this alone.
The criticism that we don't do anything for our community came in a month where our volunteers took 6 days of holidays to perform maintenance on the hall, gave another three days for DIY, and who put on community mince pies and drinks from their own pocket, a pantomime and a Christmas concert in that one month alone.
A community is more than just the few that have generously given up their time to run the hall and it is not fair for the same few to be criticised. A healthy community involves most who live and work locally.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, we've been updating the Hall with new decor, heating, blinds and furniture, and hope to continue updating the Hall so it can be future-fit for our community.
Thank you to our funders.
We'd love to work with volunteers to find and apply for new funding to help us to develop the hall for our community now and into the future.
