COMMON HIRE QUESTIONS History Hall History The community of Stanton fundraised for many years to secure a Village Hall of its own. The land for Stanton Village Hall was conveyanced in October 1953 with the intention that the trustees of the land apply to the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales. The conveyancing document stated that the property 'shall be held upon trust for the purposes of physical and mental training and recreation and social moral and intellectual development through the medium of reading and recreation room library lectures classes recreations and entertainments or otherwise as may be found expedient for the benefit of the inhabitants of Stanton (and immediate vicinity)' . The Hall has achieved this mission for over 60 years hosting a range of classes and events that meet this purpose. When the Hall was originally conveyanced, several other groups had an interest in the Hall including Stanton Men's Institute, Stanton Women's Institute and Stanton Cricket Club. None of these groups exist today. However, the governing document for the Hall does permit other groups in the parish to be recognised (Conveyance 1953, Schedule 2.7). The Hall has received limited external investment over many years and generous donations from the local community have seen steady updates and general maintenance conducted over the years. At one time this included some of the trustees even backing a loan against their own homes to pay for repairs. Do you have any more details about the history of the Hall? Email admin@villagehallstanton.com Committee New committee members are elected annually at our AGM (held each July). Members of the Stanton community and surrounding areas are welcome to attend this AGM.
